The Road to Chidarra

The Road to Chidarra is a Christian fiction novel based in an age when men worshipped at the altar of their cruel masters, the gods, and feared the monsters and strange beings who plagued their lands with malice and terror. The cries of the people are heard, and a stranger is sent from afar to guide, protect, and bring peace to the lands. This, however, comes at great cost, for the dark powers do not give in so easily, and the struggle for freedom always and forever shall be paved with blood and sacrifice.

The Road to Chidarra by Keith B. Perrin elegantly weaves a tale of faith, adventure, and the eternal battle between light and darkness. At the heart of this narrative is Feneer, a prophet enshrouded in mystery, tasked with a divine mission as he ventures westward. The journey quickly takes a turn when Feneer encounters the remnants of a desolate village, once home to the Ciqala, a forest-dwelling people. Amidst the ruins, he finds not despair but hope in the form of three orphaned survivors: Faolan, Goban, and Egan. Their resilience leads Feneer to their community, offering a glimmer of solace in a world marred by loss.

Parallel to Feneer’s quest, a narrative unfolds with Captain Luic and his soldiers from Chidarra, who, upon returning from battle, discover the town of Turnskin, besieged by its own turmoil. As Feneer is besieged by visions of lands in peril, it becomes clear that these soldiers are destined to confront an encroaching darkness, guided by the prophet’s foresight.

Keith B. Perrin’s storytelling is deeply imbued with biblical themes, presenting a narrative that does more than entertain—it seeks to instill faith. Through the interplay of good versus evil, Perrin crafts a world where righteousness is the beacon against shadow. The inclusion of supernatural elements—prophets, enchanted armaments, and mystical realms—enriches the narrative, bridging the divine with the imaginative. The story’s core, however, resonates with the struggle for freedom from oppression, echoing a universal message of hope and the transformative power of faith.

The dynamics among characters, particularly the camaraderie among the three friends, underscore themes of loyalty, bravery, and compassion. These relationships not only provide depth to the narrative but also serve as a model for positive values. Having meticulously reviewed The Road to Chidarra, I award it a perfect score of 5 out of 5 stars for its error-free editing and its ability to captivate without falter. This novel is an exceptional recommendation for aficionados of Christian fantasy, especially young adults and adults who appreciate a seamless blend of imaginative storytelling with profound spiritual underpinnings. Keith B. Perrin masterfully crafts a universe where faith in God and Jesus Christ is not merely a theme but the essence of a journey filled with wonder, challenges, and the promise of redemption. I didn’t encounter any negative aspects of the book.
